HUNTINGTON BEACH:  As the Fall begins and the season draws to a close, the girls tennis team traveled back in time to make up a tournament from August that was postponed due to high temperatures at the time.  So they traveled to Orange County and enjoyed the cooler temperatures and the increased competitive level that the Orange County schools generally offer in the sport of tennis..

While King would lose to Irvine Portola and Irvine Beckman, they did beat (on games!) Santa Margarita High School.

But winning everything wasn’t coach Shaun Harris’ goal.  He was looking to sharpen his team with strong competition as the Wolves head into CIF in the coming weeks.

“These matches are vital to our players growth and development as they play some of the top players and teams,” explained Harris, while adding that the “modified college format” of play in this tournament is an enjoyable change from the routine.

Emi Williams won all 3 of her singles sets, followed by Aahi Tripathi and Emily Zhou each winning 2 of their 3 singles sets.

Back in Riverside, the squad has one last Big VIII contest today and then await the League Tournament and CIF rounds.
