PERSEVERING ALL THE WAY TO ANOTHER SHUTOUT

GRAND TERRACE: It was another set of goose-eggs on their opponent’s scoreboard as the girls volleyball team continued their winning ways this season. The Wolves have lost only 2 matches this year and almost 100% of their victories have been of the 3-0 variety.
That pattern repeated itself on Tuesday with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-11) win over Grand Terrace, but not without some adversity.
The team starts slowly and made “too many errors”, according to head coach Michael Tongg. “Our communication is key to let others know what we are doing. We were second guessing ourselves and were not trusting in our abilities and our teammates,” he added.
Ari Chavez conceded the fact, saying, “I felt a little frustrated I couldn’t make my serves tonight.”
Chavez did lead the team however with 8 Kills followed by Caitlin Kiemele and Sam Miller who both had 7. Brielle Thompson contributed 15 Assists and she was selected by her teammates as the Player of the Match.
In the second set, the girls were down but made a run of it to secure the 25-19 win. “That was a huge momentum shift for us,” said Sophia Manley.
The girls voted Brielle as the player of the match.
“We were pleased with the win,” Tongg added, and Berlin Rodriguez chimed in with a key takeaway: “Perseverance is the key.”
