FLAG REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN LEAGUE WITH WIN OVER CEN-TEN

RIVERSIDE:  The King High girls flag football team improved to 4-0 in league play with a 33-12 win over Centennial on Monday night. The Wolves’ defense was impressive, allowing only one touchdown, which came late in the fourth quarter. The defense was led by senior linebacker Inaya Pearson, who had two interceptions, one of which she returned 23 yards down to the six-yard line to set up a King touchdown. McKenzie Dewar added an interception, and Londyn Nava led the team with 8 flag pulls on the night. King’s defense held Centennial on their own side of the field for a majority of the game and showed great improvement in their open-field flag pulling.

Offensively, the Wolves took a quarter and a half to really get going, but once they did, they never looked back. Isabella Magdelano scored on an 11-yard touchdown early in the game. After a couple of possessions of struggle, the momentum shifted when quarterback Julianna Magdelano threw a deep pass to Mia Sudbrack, who took it the distance for a 66-yard touchdown. That drive was followed up with a beautiful seam route throw from Magdelano to Kristen Mason for a 22-yard touchdown. Julianna added two rushing touchdowns on the night to cap the scoring for King.
The team showed great effort once again, and their enthusiasm and support for one another were evident from the first snap. This win puts the Wolves at 12-5 overall and in first place in the league heading into their final week of regular-season play before the league tournament. King will play defending Division 3 champions Roosevelt next Monday.
