From King, Eric went to UC-Irvine where he led the Anteaters in scoring for three consecutive years. In fact, in his second season, he became the first player in UCI history to lead the team in scoring, rebounds and assists. During the 2010-11 season, he earned All Big West Honorable Mention. Eric frequently comes back to support the program and the players in the community. Eric will always bring honor and dignity to our school and its hall of fame.”
Tony Masi – Athletic Director
Tony Masi became the Director of Athletics at Martin Luther King in August 2001 and would stay in that position through June 30, 2015, In his 13 years as AD, Tony helped to transition, guide and lead the Wolves Athletic Department through its infancy to one of the most academically and athletically successful programs in the CIF Southern Section. His leadership was vital as the Wolves had to “step up their game” going from the Sunkist League to the old Ivy League to the Big VIII and dealing with the challenge that each transition presented. During his tenure, King athletics was wildly successful by winning 7 CIF Southern Section titles, 1 CIF State Championship and 119 League crowns. In 2015, King was awarded the Citrus Belt Athletic Directors Association Sportsmanship Award. This award honors member schools that emphasize sportsmanship and conduct their athletic program with honor. Tony’s philosophy was one of, “Surround yourself with good people and good things happen.”
Starting at Ramona, Tony was a teacher, basketball coach and athletic director for 23 years. In 1978, still only in his mid-20’s, he put his stamp on the basketball program as he took over head coaching duties. In his 11 years as coach, his teams played fundamental, tough defense, following the Rams tradition set by Tom Williams and Doug Stockham.
Tony is a member of the Citrus Belt Athletic Directors Hall of Fame; the Ramona High School Hall of Fame and on the Riverside Sport Hall of Fame Wall of Distinction and most recently was named to the Riverside Sports Hall of Fame.
