RIVERSIDE:  It was a good weekend for volleyball.  The early season has seen the girls take victory after victory (11-2), and that momentum — or “Mo” as it is often abbreviated — swept into Saturday’s Rancho Verde Tournament in which they won every match they played and came out the champion.

The Wolves beat Elsinore, then Aquinas, then Valley View in two sets each, then in a “first to 25” matchup against Valley View for Bracket outcomes, the girls won 25-18.  Palm Springs was dispatched as well,  to set up the Championship game against Elsinore where, again, the Wolves won every set.

It was a clean sweep of the tournament with not one dropped set.

“This was a great day of competition for the girls,” said Michael Tongg, King High’s head coach.  “The girls continued to play hard and gel as a team. As the day went on they became stronger and played seamlessly to the end. It was great to watch and be a part of. We are proud of the girls!”

Sophia Manley (Sophomore)  added, “Our electric energy throughout the tournament was key to our success,” and  Brielle Thompson was selected as the tournament MVP.  Madison Lenew said of Madison’s play that “she had a lot of good serves and serving runs.”

Which is the sound of momentum, a chorus the whole team can sing right now.
