RIVERSIDE:  The King girls’ flag football season came to an end with a second-round CIF playoff loss to Pacifica on Saturday afternoon. It was a hard-fought game that came down to the last drive, but Pacifica won 12-6. Both teams’ defenses played well throughout.

The difference was Pacifica being able to score on two drives that mainly came from big plays, and Kings’ offense being able to move the ball effectively for the majority of the game, but failing to score on three possessions in which they moved the ball inside Pacifica’s twenty-yard line and came away with zero points.

QB Julianna Magdaleno finished the day with 268 total yards and a touchdown, with two interceptions. The top receiver for King was Haydein Neahr, who had 8 catches for 79 yards. Defensively, linebacker Annabelle Distel had three sacks and a pass breakup, and Carli Collins and Layla Clabaugh had interceptions.
While the team is disappointed in the loss, they have plenty to be proud of in the 2026 season. Notable accomplishments in the flag football program’s history include the best season winning percentage, the most wins in a season, the most league wins in a season, a co-league championship, and the most points scored in a season. The Wolves also qualified for the Division II CIF playoffs, a huge leap from the previous year when they qualified for the Division IV playoffs.
There were so many great moments in the season, and the team was guided by a fantastic group of seniors who led by example and provided the team with a tremendous amount of experience. The seniors will be missed and hard to replace. Still, the program is in great hands with a talented, motivated group of sophomores and juniors who will return next season to keep it moving in the right direction.
