The King Wolves hosted the Centennial Huskies in the first round of dogfights at General Old Golf Course on Thursday afternoon. Despite a late-notice mix-up of the Centennial lineup, the Wolves remained steady, and they defeated the Huskies 229-294.

Emilyn Czaplicki continued her streak of match medalist wins, claiming her fourth with her second even-par round in a row with a 36. Sarani Yapa was right behind with a 37, despite battling consistent head congestion. Addison Ruan once again matched her personal best of her career and season with another 45. Alyssa Christensen had an up-and-down round of 51 to round out the top four. Georgia Herbon and Kendyl Chapman closed out the day with a 60 and 69, respectively.

Coach’s Take: The effects of a long week were starting to show their face today, as the girls played their third round in a row. For the most part, they handled it well, even if the physical and mental exhaustion were slipping through in the last few holes. Emilyn and Sarani are showing their experience and comfort with the game, though, consistently shooting some amazing rounds of golf. Addy got another boost of confidence with another personal best, and Georgia identified a few points of improvement from the previous day. But as well as multiple of our girls did today, there is one day left in our week, and it’s arguably the most important competition that we’ve had yet. I’m counting on their resiliance and mental-game strength as we head into our match against Norco tomorrow. I know they can do well; they just need to believe it too.

The Wolves finish out their week with their first match against Norco at Goose Creek on Friday.
