King 11, Central Catholic 0

The Wolves made quick work of the Raiders from Central Catholic and took home the Bronze Bracket Championship in the Carew Classic. Senior shortstop Brooke Lebsock drove in four rbi’s after hitting her second grand slam of the tournament. King collected 11 hits in four innings thanks to the offensive production of Addison Christensen, Dakota Hyler, Janai Davis and Jace Margaritis who each had two hits a piece. Janai Davis also delivered a 2-run blast, her third home run of the tournament. Kenzie Carlone earned her 8th win of the season giving up zero runs and 4 hits on 4 innings of work. The defense continued to play solidly behind Carlone, committing no errors and turning one double play in the contest.

This was a good week for us as we faced strong competition to continue our preparation for league play. After our one-run loss in game one of the tourney, the squad responded well with 4 consecutive wins outscoring opponents 37-5 in the 5 games. The team hit over .400 as a unit and our pitchers held opponents to a .200 average. It was great to see Brooke, Janai and Dakota settle in at the plate and inflict some damage. Addison was terrific in the leadoff spot this week and played outstanding on both sides of the ball. Our defense and pitching continue to keep us in it every game. Coach Brewer challenged the team to impose their will on the opponent today and they got the message. We know the caliber of teams we are about to face in the 9 remaining league games we have ahead of us and we are ready to be put to the test.

We are looking forward to the Big 8 battles that resume Wednesday at the den when we take on Norco at 4pm.
