LARGE GROUP SIGNS ON FOR COLLEGE ATHLETICS
April 1, 2026
RIVERSIDE: Countless hours of practice. Years of dedication. Thousands of miles on the road to practice and games. Injuries, thrills and heartache. These are the ingredients of competitive athletes and when stirred and seasoned over the long haul, it can all end in a major transition to competing at the collegiate level. Except for the 1% that make it to the professional ranks, collegiate athletics is the top rung of the ladder, so it deserves a celebration.
The Martin Luther King High Athletic Department under the leadership of Director Amanda Chann did just that Wednesday morning in the ML King gym. The school hosted one of the largest Letter of Intent signings in its history as 16 athletes put pen to paper to signify and commit to an array of colleges. ML King alums will be represented in different uniforms next school year across the United States.
Each student-athlete was given the mic to thank the many who helped them along the way, the special ones who brought them to this point. It was a reminder that no one goes it alone.
