Solid hitting, pitching and defense carried the Wolves to a 10-1 victory over the Panthers to open league on Friday. Corona scored first in the second inning but they didn’t hold the lead for long. King tied it up  in the third and broke it open in the fourth and it all started by a monster homerun shot to left field by Junior Lynnette Vu. The Wolves batted through the entire lineup in the 4th inning which included a double by Brooke Lebsock and clutch singles by Addison Christensen and Taylor Anderson. The Wolves racked up 11 hits in the game with Lebsock, Christensen and Anderson each collecting two a piece.
Kenzie Carlone earned the win for King throwing 5.1 innings giving up 4 singles and one unearned run. Freshman Ryder Bishop came on strong in relief throwing 1.2 innings to earn the save.
We were pleased with all aspects of our game today. Corona scored first but this team doesn’t panic. They know it’s going to take more than one run most of the time to beat them. Our at-bats got better as the game progressed. Patience and adjustments at the plate were the keys to that. Vu got the ball rolling with her shot to left and everyone fed off of her. Our defense loves turning double plays and our pitchers love it, too! This was a great way to kick off spring break and we are really excited for what’s to come!
