RIVERSIDE: King basketball (11-5) played their 16th game of the season last night on Poly’s court, the last of the Riverside Unified Schools on the Wolves’ pre-season schedule.
In what became a well played and high-intensity contest — as a rivalry matchup should be — the Wolves drove home victorious, 57-55. For good measure, it was the first time King had won on Poly’s home boards since 2012.
“We have been resilient, battling a lot of sickness and yet have stayed together,” said King head coach Darius Durham.
25 points were scored by Chukwuma Ezinwa including big shots down the stretch.
The win over Poly was the 4th over RUSD schools. Previously this season, the Wolves beat Arlington 79-42, then JW North 81-43 and Ramona 65-61.
There’s no official crown for such a feat, but consider the Wolves “King of Riverside.”
