The Wolves concluded the Inaugural CIF Unified Flag Football tournament on December 11th in the championship bracket. Their day started against Santiago HS in which the wolves pulled out the win 22-20. In the semi-finals the wolves took on Murrieta Mesa and pulled off the win 32-21. The Wolves then moved on to the championship game against Trabuco Hills HS. In the end, the Wolves fell to the Mustangs.
Over the 2-day competition the wolves went 4-1 with several impressive offensive and defensive performances. Daniel Chavez and Matthew Morales led the team on defense with double digit interceptions while Landen Kerr and Gael Dominguez powered the offense with their play calling and leadership. Luke Grandia had several good runs on offense, Gavin Ballard supported his team with nice catches, while Jesse Wood supported his team in both catching and running the ball. Jayla Terry had several nice flag pulls on defense while Kendyjon Holmes applied pressure to the quarterbacks.
These athletes and partners have been practicing over the last 10 weeks and were the only RUSD school to participate. They represented MLK and RUSD extremely well with their performance, sportsmanship and showed the true meaning of being “Unified”.
Thank you to our parents of these athletes for supporting their students and our team, Amanda Chann for always supporting our Unified Athletics, the PE department for sending us a great group of partners and our Adaptive Physical Education teacher Peter Taynton for leading our team to success.
