RIVERSIDE:  Another pre-season tournament and another win for the Wolves!  Now at 5-3 on the season, the boys traveled to Poly High to participate in the Riverside Kiwanis Tournament.

In the opening game, they drew Orange Vista High and despite a slow first quarter of offense, the team followed the lead of Mark Cadena who notched his 4th-straight “Double Double”.

King would earn a 62-58 victory.

Cadena had help, as Chukwuma Ezinwa and Cristian Quintero combined for seven 3-point shots, Ezinwa ended the game having scored 18 points.

King’s head coach Darius Durham was pleased.  “We had some huge contributions from the players off the bench,” he said, referring to the efforts of Kayden Burris, Je’Shawn McClain, Reyce Peters and Caleb Ruiz.

“These guys were huge throughout the game but especially in the first half,” he added.

“It’s early,” the coach added, “but we are learning to respect every opponent and rely on the team not individual to overcome adversity.”

Indeed, the formula for success both on and off the court, in basketball and in life.
