Chandler Sjoerdsma
2025-26 Golf, Girls Head Coach

Chandler Sjoerdsma took the co-head coach title along with her sister, Morgan in 2025. The two were first introduced to golf by their aunt, Lucinda Brewer, when Chandler was 5 years old. They began competing in youth golf tournaments by 9 and 10 years of age respectively.
The two sisters were coached in their pre-teen years by Coach Scott Marsen, a PGA professional, at the Links of Summerly in Lake Elsinore, CA. They worked with him until 2014 and then switched to Coach Kati Biszantz, LPGA professional, at Seven Hills Golf Course and the Golf Club of Rancho California in Hemet and Temecula, respectively. They worked with Biszantz until college, then were both taught by Coach Hans Kersting, PGA professional and CSULA women’s golf coach.
Chandler graduated from King in 2020 and her favorite memory of being at King was attending prom with her sister during her, Chandler’s, Junior year. The teacher that had the biggest impact on her was Florina Lupsaiu, who taught pre-calculus and AP Calculus. “She taught me that I didn’t have to be perfect at everything in my life, but I should pick my favorite things and be excellent at those,” Chandler fondly remembers. Mrs. Lupsaiu passed away in 2023.
The team element of King High Golf brought a new level of excitement to her view of golf. Different from youth golf which was incredibly individualistic, having teammates in those high school years changed everything. Still. her individual accomplishments continued: Rookie of the Year, two-times Coaches Award, Character Counts award, P.E.A.K award; Scholar Athlete four times, team MVP award, Big VIII All-League Team four times, Big VIII All-Academic Team three times, and All Area Inland Empire Team twice. She qualified for CIF individual competition three times and won a Big VIII Champion title in 2017.
It was at King under head coach Keith Moorman’s leadership that Chandler learned the valuable lessons that an athlete is only as good as the work that’s put in along with the truth that golf wasn’t to be the only focus in life. So, Chandler threw shotput and discus for Track during the Spring and was the sports anchor for the GDMLK news team. She balanced AP classes and sports throughout her time at King.
Chandler attended Calvin University, a private Christian college in Grand Rapids, MI. She continued to balance a challenging and demanding degree with competition and finished her final season with a 77.7 scoring average. Along the way she played in six states, won 12 collegiate competitions and earned multiple All District and Scholar Athlete honors. It was through that healthy balance that she learned to truly love golf, rather than dreading the stress of competition.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Secondary English Education in 2024 and is on track to graduate with a M.A. in Educational Curriculum and Instruction in 2026.
She plans to teach high school English to begin and hopefully build upon her Physical Education minor which could open up an opportunity to teach PE one day.
