Mr. Durham is no stranger to King High as he’s been on the court as varsity assistant coach and has been teaching math at King since 2024 before taking on the head coaching duties in 2025.
Mr. Durham’s career has had a number of starts from its starting line in Orange County. After graduating from Garden Grove High School, he would land his first teaching job at La Quinta High School and then at Sunny Hills High in Fullerton. While at La Quinta, his team won the Goldenwest League championship in 2019.
His coaching has covered mulitple levels. At Garden Grove HS, he coached at the JV level and followed that up with another JV position at Westminster High where the Lions made it to the CIF basketball semi-finals and played to the second round of the CIF State Tournament in 2022.. While teaching at Sunny Hills Durham served as a baseball assistant coach and varsity assistant for their basketball team. Since arriving at King in ’23, he has assisted Coach Mat Vasel in the Track and Field program along with the duties as an assistant coach in the boys basketball program.
In his freetime, Mr. Durham loves the movies and watches almost all of the new releases as they hit the silver screen. Binging on Netflix series or watching sports on TV or in person is another of his passions along with hanging out with his family, two younger sisters, mother and father.
