EASTVALE: The Wolves took on the rest of the Big VIII League this past Wednesday at the League Meet Preview and came away with strong performances across every level.

The JV Girls opened the day, led by Betsaida Sandoval in 10th place. Hayden Shelton showed great resilience as she continues to work her way back from early-season injuries, finishing as the team’s #3 scorer. The group battled well to earn a 3rd-place team finish.

The JV Boys followed with a statement win, dominating the field with just 26 points. Marc Gonzalez, Juan Carlos Leiva, Smooth Watkins, and Andrew Phillips packed up tightly to finish 3rd through 6th, while Mayson Machuca closed out the scoring in 8th place. Andrew Moyo was right on his heels in 9th, further showing the Wolves’ depth.

In the Varsity Girls race, Elizabeth Jacklin delivered a huge performance, running with confidence and pulling off a big win over national talent Braelyn Combe of Santiago. Jude Abu-Ghazaleh had her best league meet to date, placing 4th overall and showing her steady rise as a key scorer. The varsity girls placed 2nd as a team with 35 points, just behind Santiago’s 28. The Lady Wolves embrace the challenge and look forward to another showdown with the Sharks come League Finals in November.

The Varsity Boys closed out the meet in dominant fashion, showing they are rounding back into last season’s championship form. Bradley Quezada secured the win, while teammates Logan Carlson and Mason Stehmeier packed in behind him in 2nd and 3rd. John Sosa was not far off in 5th, and Frank Stewart sealed the scoring in 9th. Their 20-point team win sent a clear message—they’re back in business even without frontrunner Maximo Zavaleta in the lineup.

With a successful preview meet behind them, the Wolves now turn their attention to two weeks of focused training before the prestigious Clovis Invitational on October 11th.
