WOLFPACKS COLLIDE, GREAT OAK WINS
February 26, 2026
Wolf packs collided as Martin Luther King faced off against Great Oak’s golf team in the first varsity match of the season. The non-league friendly at General Old was well attended by family, friends, and past graduates. Freshman Levi In and sophomore Maddox Cornwell made their first varsity appearance.
Harlan Yapa (11) posted the team low score of 38 strokes followed closely by Joshua Lance’s (11) score of 39.
MLK ultimately fell to Great Oak with a score of 197 – 207. Despite some unfortunate breaks, Coach Takano was pleased with his players’ mental strength and tenacity.
Knowing it was not the teams’ best day, Coach Takano expressed his optimism for better scores in the days to come. “I believe in these guys and am excited at the depth of our team. We will be a sub-200 team in no time”, said Takano.
The team looks excited forward to their home and away match up against Apple Valley next week.
