In football at King, Robert lettered 3 years and earned All League Tight End and Specialist in 2005. He played defensive end, tight end and handled the punting duties for King. CIF honored him in 2005 with 1st Team All CIF in the Tight End position. In track and field, he set the school record in the discus and the shot put. His shot put record of 55′ 7″ still stands and is a full five feet beyond the second-best in school history. Robert was a 3 year Varsity Letterman in Shot Put and Discus and in 2006 was named the MVP of the Varsity Track team by virtue of scoring the most points by any athlete that year. Robert received a full ride football scholarship to Fresno State University where he earned the starting position for punting as a freshman and earned All WAC honors in 2008 and 2009. He was 2nd in the nation his senior season for net punting average and for the Bulldogs would hold 7 of 9 weight lifting team awards.
In 2010 Robert was named to the East-West Shrine College Football All Star Game and graduated Cum Laude. Following graduation, he was invited to the NFL Combine to showcase his punting talents. He would go on to play six years in the NFL with roster spots on the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers, New York Jets, Washington Redskins/Commanders, and the New York Giants. He was “Player of the Week” three times while with the Jets and the Bucs, and broke a franchise punting record with the Jets in 2012. He also holds the record for the longest punt in NFL for the last 20 years (84 yards from the line of scrimmage, 99 from where the opponent caught it).
Robert is married to high school sweetheart Maygan Olsen-Malone and they have adopted two wonderful kids Noel and Noah.
After 18 moves and 6 years in the NFL, he and Maygan now reside in Cornelius, North Carolina. He presently works as a trade manager for AMCI (American Metal & Coal International) exporting raw material over seas and to domestic steel mills. He gives back to his community through working with his church and with Bytrust, a non-profit organization that supports at-risk children in Kenya.
