MUSTANGS RUN AWAY WITH THE WIN

NORCO:  The Martin Luther King Wolves squared up once again against the Roosevelt Mustangs in the second JV match of the season, this time hosted at Goose Creek GC in Norco. The course, while beautiful and in excellent condition, showed its teeth early, and our team struggled with clipped trees, boundary lines, and quick greens. Gusty winds took their toll as well, and we had to learn how to play for them on the narrow fairways and greens. The boys settled in after a few holes, though, and with quick rounds that beat the expected pace of play, we finished before sunset.
Leon Hsu from Roosevelt took medalist honors with a 41. Aarav Shah carded the lowest score for the Wolves with a 44, and Cole Metz was right behind with a 45. Matteo Chavez and Maddox Cornwell tied at 47, Samuel Stewart shot a 51, and freshman Carson Davison carded a 55 in his first-ever high school match.
Ultimately, the Mustangs took the win on their home course with a score of 220-234, but we take many opportunities for growth away from this loss. We’ll hit the range and practice greens hard this week so we’ll be ready to take on Ramona next Monday at General Old.
