It isn’t often an old high school football player becomes a tennis coach but that’s exactly what Shaun Harris did in 2015 as he took over the reins of the boys Tennis program. Coach Harris stepped into his new position after 8 years as an assistant for the Girls tennis program and 4 years as an assistant in the King boys tennis program. In 2023, he took the helm of the girls program after longtime coach Becky Gagnon’s retirement.

Harris has led his squad to 5 Big 8 league titles from 2015-2019 and has amassed a record of 94-23 and 52-0 in league during that same spread and the abbreviated 2020 season cut short by COVID-19.

Coach Harris is a 1997 graduate of Alta High School in Sandy, Utah where he played 4 years of football and was named the team’s defensive player of the year as a senior. A graduate of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, he took up the game of tennis and has been playing ever since. He got his BA in Math at WSU and also received his Master’s in Math from Cal-State Fullerton. Coach Harris teaches math at King High.

Shaun is married with two daughters who play soccer and tennis. His family likes to travel in the summer, typically to tropical locales to soak in the sun and snorkel. He enjoys hiking, playing tennis, distance running, and reading.
