RIVERSIDE: The MLK Wolves hosted the Roosevelt Mustangs at General Old Golf Course in Riverside on Wednesday. Following a long day at the tournament the day before, fatigue and strain were new challenges for our girls, as well as aerated greens. Despite these, our King players remained neck-and-neck with their opponents, falling just short with a loss of 226-215.
It was a tightly bunched group for us; Sarani Yapa led the Wolves with a 40, Sophia Llamas shot a 42, Addison Ruan a 44, Samantha Woolweaver a 48, and Taylor Lauritzen and Alyssa Christensen tied with a 52. Amanda MacDonald and Chloe Grove played along as individuals, shooting a 54 and 68, respectively.
The slow, bumpy greens took their toll on everyone, but the girls stayed strong and kept their moods light despite their frustrations, which we were very proud of as coaches. When it comes to things to work on, we’re focusing mainly on physical wellness, since the middle of the season is when aches and pains tend to hit our players the most.
Due to some scheduling conflicts, our next competition isn’t until next week, which provides some time for the girls to rest and recover.
League Record: 3-2
Season Record: 6-4
