RIVERSIDE: In the nearly 26 seasons in which Poly and King have track and field meets against each other, King has never lost. That streak continued on Wednesday as the two school competed yet again, this time at Poly.
The Wolves turned in a big varsity performance against Poly, taking wins across every major event group. In distance, Elizabeth Jacklin won the 1600, Natalie Drewitz won the 800, and Frank Stewart won the boys 800. Sprint victories came from Princeton Lewis (100), Aliyah Rudolph (200), Cayden Tillman (200), Amaya Lochard (400), and Chukwuma Ezinwa (400), showing both top-end speed and strong depth.
The hurdle group also delivered, with Zaina Vaughn winning the girls 300H, Jemeni Mckee winning the boys 300H, and Jacob Cupples taking the boys 110H. In the field events, the Wolves were dominant: Vanessa Hope swept Long Jump and Triple Jump, Colton Zeen won boys Triple Jump, and Jemeni Mckee won Pole Vault. The throws added two more sweeps, with Bailey Mann winning both girls Shot Put and Discus and Justin Coute winning both boys Shot Put and Discus.
Strong execution, great energy, and a complete varsity effort from start to finish.
